If there is one wedding I wish I could go back and shoot EVERY single weekend, it’d be this one! John and Sarah were planning the traditional big wedding when they decided they might want to do something completely different. They decided on changing their plans and eloping with just their immediate families and bridal party at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park! When I first heard what Sarah’s wedding date was I was thrilled- they were planning to elope the very same week I would be at the park on a yearly vacation with my family!! I was familiar with several absolutely amazing spots for photos, and it seemed like the perfect match!
The night before the wedding, I was a few miles away at the campground and woke up to thunder in the middle of the night. Not at all what either a bride and groom OR their photographer hopes to hear hours before a wedding! The rain kept up as I drove to John and Sarah’s motel in Empire. Amazingly, the sun popped out before they finished getting ready and the weather stayed dry the rest of the day!
Both the ceremony and most of the bride and groom portraits were in the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. For the dances and family photos we drove to a more tucked away section of beach. There were so many spots that you really have to see to believe! The Sleeping Bear Dunes are really unmatched for their beauty!
Congratulations again John and Sarah! Being a part of your day was an absolute dream!
